Non-member High Holiday Information

We welcome you to worship with us this holiday season. We maintain an open door policy inviting all Jews in our community to come and worship with us. In lieu of tickets, we are requesting a High Holiday donation from non-members attending this year. Congregation Adath Israel is funded solely through our membership dues and the donations made by people who know how important it is to have a spiritual home and Synagogue in Newtown.

Below is a description of the options we are offering for viewing High Holiday services this year.

  • Main Service: Our traditional service live-streamed from the sanctuary led by Rabbi Barukh Schectman.. This service is broken down into several viewing times throughout each day. Please see schedule on home page or calendar.
  • Children’s Service: (Ages 4-7) This will be a short educational service on ZOOM, approximately 1/2 hour in length with age appropriate material beginning at 11:00 AM.
  • Youth & Family Service: (Ages 8-13) A short service on ZOOM, approximately 1/2 hour in length, starting at 11:30 AM.

Realizing that families have differing abilities to pay, we are suggesting a donation of $118 per family, per holiday.  Please note that both days of Rosh Hashanah are considered one holiday. Please use our High Holiday Appeal Form for your donation. Any non-member who joins Congregation Adath Israel by December 31, 2020 can have their High Holiday donation applied towards their first year’s membership dues.

Please contact us at to sign up for services. Please provide your name(s), address, phone number and email address and tell us which service(s) you would like to view. That way we can send you the proper links and let you know if there are any changes to the schedule.

If any further information is required, please contact the synagogue at or call (203) 426-5188 and leave a message.
