Welcome to Adath Israel

We have been greater Newtown’s Synagogue for 100 years and proudly continue our tradition of welcoming all to join us in celebrating Jewish tradition and learning in a progressive, modern setting. Our unique membership includes descendants of the original Jewish farmers who built the synagogue, interfaith couples, congregants from diverse Jewish backgrounds as well as those new to Jewish tradition. We look forward to sharing our synagogue and community with you and welcome you to join us for our next 100 years!

The Blessing of America

Adult Education Class

Wednesdays 7:30pm - 8:30pm, beginning August 5th via online video conferencing.
Details to be provided to those who sign up.

This will be a continuation of the very popular class that began in January. Newcomers are welcome!

We will compare life and cultural backgrounds of European countries and the USA as they impacted the existence of Jewish Communities. We will point out the acceptance and guarantees of freedom that America offered the Jewish people as well as all religious backgrounds. We will start with Jewish settlement in and contributions to the New World from the 15th century until today.

Hebrew School Registration

Now registering new students entering grades K - 7 for the 2020 - 2021 school year.

Shabbat Service

Saturday August 1

Although our building is closed, Rabbi Schectman will be live-streaming this Saturday's service so you can attend from the comfort and safety of your home.

The live-stream will begin at 11:30 am through our facebook page. You can see the upcoming stream and all our past services on our Facebook Live Page.
