Congregation Adath Israel offers activities in three areas: traditional religious observances, educational activities for youth and adults, and social programs to promote fellowship and community service. We feel that no one should be denied the opportunity to worship or participate in synagogue activities because of busy personal or work schedules. Our programs are flexible and reflect the needs of the modern family. Religious ObservancesServices are conducted every Friday evening except during the summer months. The first Friday of each month is a Family service that begins at 7:00pm. All other Friday services begin at 7:30pm. For the summer schedule, please see the calendar. Educational ActivitiesWe have a highly regarded education program that reflects the Jewish tradition of lifelong learning. The education programs for children begin in pre-school with a once a month Sunday playgroup focusing on holidays, crafts and song.
The kindergarten through third grade program creates a foundation of Jewish experiences with instruction in Hebrew, culture and torah through crafts, songs, stories and in class observance of the holidays. The fourth through seventh grade program focuses on preparation for Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and Jewish living with courses in Hebrew, Jewish history, ritual, torah, Israel and modern global politics. Learning and fellowship continue with our Hebrew High programs for teenagers and a variety of adult education programs Social ProgramsA full compliment of family oriented activities, such as picnics, carnivals, luncheons, dinners, Chanukah parties, concerts, an active chapter of the regional B’nai B’rith Youth Organization (BBYO), participation in the Newtown Labor Day Parade, community break-the-fast and more are open to all. |
